My name is Lisa Marie Ferguson, and I am the Technology Instructional Coach at Sangaree Elementary School! As the Technology Instructional Coach, I work with both teachers and students to seamlessly integrate technology into each and every classroom at Sangaree. Currently, we have 17 classrooms that are completely 1:1, using either iPads or Chromebooks. Each student is assigned a Google Account through the district that they use to access Google Apps for Education. Students are collaborating on documents using Google Docs, creating presentations in Google Slides, completing surveys and assessments in Google Forms....among many other things! Additionally, many of our teachers are using Google Classroom with their students. This allows them to post questions, create assignments, and present learning to our students in a new way. It is an exciting time at Sangaree!
I grew up in Mount Pleasant, SC, and I attended Charleston County Schools. After graduating from Wofford College in 2004 with a degree in Art History, I attended the College of Charleston, where I received my Master of Arts in Teaching degree in Early Childhood Education in 2006. I joined the Berkeley County School District and opened the brand new Daniel Island School. I taught both Kindergarten and First grade there before relocating to Columbia, SC. After teaching Kindergarten for four more years in Richland District Two, my husband and I returned to the Lowcountry, and I taught Second Grade at Sangaree in 2012. Once the school year ended, I decided to stay home with my newborn son, Jack. In my time away from Sangaree, I taught First grade for a year at St. James-Santee in Charleston County and had another son, Charlie! Life has been busy to say the least, but I am excited to rejoin the Sangaree family this year!
I know that this will be the best year YET at Sangaree Elementary School!!!
