OUR PROGRAM
Our school counselor is Ms. Shelly Burgess. This is Mrs. Burgess' second year at Boulder Bluff Elementary. Mrs. Burgess covers grades K-5 and meets with all students on a monthly basis.
Students receive a comprehensive guidance program in the areas of academic, career, and personal/social development. Students receive classroom guidance where topics, such as topics such as peer pressure, making healthy and safe choices, self-esteem, drug prevention, manners, listening, friendship, bullying, are discussed and many other social and life skills. Students may also see the school counselor individually or in a small group.
Guidance lessons are centered around the nine district-wide character traits. We also focus on conflict resolution skills, friendship, safety, goal-setting, and study skills. Small groups are offered each quarter for 6 to 8 weeks. If you have any specific groups that you think would benefit your child, please feel free to reach out to Ms. Burgess. Individual counseling is also offered at Boulder Bluff Elementary. This is when a student meets with the counselor about a specific problem or concerns. Possible topics include school, friendship, grades, divorce, and bullying.
