Ms. Latanya Butler was named principal at Berkeley Middle in June of 2022. Prior to coming to Berkeley Middle, she served as an assistant principal at Goose Creek High School. Ms. Butler served as an assistant principal at Goose Creek High for eight years. 

In the spring of 2022, Ms. Butler was named Berkeley County School District's Secondary Assistant Principal of the Year.

Before becoming a school administrator, Ms. Butler was a social studies teacher at St. Stephen Middle and Westview Middle.

Ms. Butler is committed to being a responsive leader in the Berkeley Middle community. She's passionate about parent involvement and looks forward to community engagement events.

Mrs. Courtenaye Johnson was named Assistant Principal of Berkeley Middle School in June of 2022. Her experience includes over 20 years working with children and families in a variety of settings, including 15 years as a classroom teacher.  Mrs. Johnson most recently served as the Title I Facilitator at Cross High School.  

Prior to her time at Cross High, she was a 7th grade social studies teacher at Sedgefield Middle School where she was named the 2016-2017 Teacher of the year. 

Mrs. Johnson holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Geography as well as a Bachelor of Secondary Education from Simon Fraser University. Mrs. Johnson also attended University of South Carolina where she earned her Master of Education in School Administration.

Mrs. Lyndi Valicek was named Assistant Principal of Berkeley Middle School in December of 2022. Mrs. Valicek has spent her entire educational career in Berkeley County. She spent nine years as a teacher at Macedonia Middle, one year as a Title I Facilitator at Macedonia Middle, and the last 6 years as an Innovative Learning Coordinator for Berkeley County.

Mrs. Valicek earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Charleston Southern University, a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with and emphasis in Technology from Grand Canyon University, and attended Gardner-Webb University for Administration.

Mr. Mike Timko was named an assistant principal at Berkeley Middle in January 2025 after previously serving in the same role at Timberland High.
