Meet Your Library Staff

Aron Bennett, Media Specialist

My name is Aron Bennett. This is my fourth year as Library Media Specialist at Cane Bay Middle School and my 11th year in BCSD schools. I became a librarian to share my love of books and reading with my students. Middle grade students are my favorite because they can hold a conversation about books, while still being able to joke around and be goofy sometimes. In addition to reading, I love to travel, rooting for the LSU Tigers, and photography. My husband and I live in Ridgeville, with our two kids and a dog named Sophie.

Chromebook Basics for Students

Students are expected to charge their device AT HOME each night and bring a charged device to school each day. They should not be bringing a charger to school, as this is the easiest way to lose a Chromebook charger. Students who lose or damage a Chromebook charger must pay the BCSD $20 replacement fee before a new charger will be issued. Payments can be made in CASH or CHECK made out to CBM.

It is the responsibility of the student to bring a fully charged device to school each day. The Library WILL NOT issue a loaner device if a student fails to bring a Chromebook to school. If a student’s device is not working properly or has any type of physical damage, they should bring it to the Library staff immediately. The CBM Library staff will assess the situation and fix or swap the device as needed.

Since we know that accidents can happen, our students are afforded ONE incident of ACCIDENTAL damage per school year. The CBM library staff will keep track of these offenses in a Google Form each year, and refer to the form each time a device is brought in with physical damages (cracked screen, missing keys, etc). Once a student has used their first accidental offense, the BCSD damages policy is followed in full. The list of Chromebook damage fees is included in the infographic below. Any incident of INTENTIONAL damage will result in automatic damage fees and administrative action.
