My name is Shelly Foley and I am the Title One Facilitator at Devon Forest Elementary School.

I am originally from North Dakota but prefer the warmth of the South over the freezing temps up there!

I graduated from Minnesota State University-Moorhead in 2001 with a degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.  In 2010, I received my National Board for Professional Teaching in Early Childhood.  I have taught elementary students in 5th grade, 1st grade and Kindergarten for over 18 years in North Dakota, North Carolina, and South Carolina.  Most recently, I received a Master's degree from Charleston Southern University in Educational Leadership.

I enjoy spending time with my two teenage children and husband. We enjoy traveling and exploring new areas together.

FAMILY'S RIGHT TO KNOW

Parents may request information regarding the professional qualifications of a student's classroom teachers, including the following:

  • Whether the teacher has met state qualification and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction

  • Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or other provisional status through which State qualification or licensing criteria have been waived

  • The baccalaureate degree major of the teacher, any other graduate certification or degree held by the teacher, and the field of discipline of the certification or degree

  • Whether the child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications

  • Information on the level of achievement of the parent's child in each of the state academic assessments as required under this part

Teacher qualifications can be accessed at the South Carolina Department of Education's Educator Qualification Search.

ABOUT OUR LITTLE FREE LIBRARY

The boxes follow an honor system and provide books to any needing something to read after school hours. It's convenient to students, parents and community members!

FAMILY ENGAGEMENT POLICY

What is it?

The administration of Devon Forest Elementary School (DFE) recognizes the strength and importance of family engagement to increase student achievement. It is the desire of DFE to involve families as stakeholders in the decision- making processes of school improvement.

The faculty and staff of Devon Forest value the family-school partnership and collaborate with the families of its students in making academic decisions.  Title I funds are used to pay reasonable expenses associated with parent engagement activities. This plan describes the different ways that Devon Forest will support family engagement and how parents can help plan and participate in activities and events to promote student learning at school and at home.
