Here are some things you should know about our café if you would like to attend:

• 6th & 7th grade students must earn the equivalent of five or more reading points to receive a pass to the café.

• 8th grade students must earn five reading points via the Accelerated Reader (AR) program only. The biweekly list of students earning five or more points will be given to the ELA teachers by media center staff to reward their students.

• Students will be able to read and take AR tests on books that are movies as long as the ELA teacher and/or a parent verifies the child is reading. Usually, this is allowed after the student has met his/her AR goal for the nine-week period.

• Students are not to take more than one AR test for the same title. For example, The Outsiders has several AR tests. Students will only be allowed to take one test under that title.

• There will be no makeup days for café closures (due to holidays, workdays, emergencies, etc.)

• Students may not retake tests that were previously failed unless they have written accommodations.

• No rollover points from one nine weeks to the next for café incentives.
