Mrs. Madeline Elmore

Madeline Elmore has been a school counselor for nearly a decade. She comes to Marrington Elementary after first serving as a counselor at Whitesville Elementary for several years.

Mrs. Elmore received her Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Louisiana State University and her Masters of Education degree in School Counseling from The Citadel.

Mrs.Elmore is originally from a small town in Louisiana and moved to Charleston in 2011. She lives with her husband, son and two labradoodles! In her spare time she likes to hang out with her family and friends, travel, watch the LSU Tigers, and go to the beach! Mrs. Elmore is looking forward to a great year at Marrington Elementary!

What does a School Counselor do?

School Counselors work alongside teachers, administrators and parents to help students develop socially and emotionally and help any barriers they have to learning!

How does a student get referred to the School Counselor?

A student can be referred to a School Counselor by administration, teacher, parent or friend. A student can also request to see a Counselor.

Counseling Program at MNE:

The School Counseling department at MNE is a comprehensive program that focuses on students' personal/social, career, and academic development as well as character development. Here is a quick overview of the services the school counselors offer:

  • Short-term Individual Counseling

  • Small groups on topics such as family changes, grief, social skills, friendship, worries, etc.

  • Weekly Classroom Guidance lessons about character traits, social skills, friendship skills, conflict resolution, etc.

  • Referral services for community resources

  • Collaboration & consultation with teachers and parents

  • Support teachers and administrators

  • Parent conferences

  • Special programs such as Career on Wheels, Pathfinders Pick, Anti Bullying Week, Red Ribbon Week

  • Partnerships with community organizations.
