The role of the school counseling department is to implement a comprehensive school counseling program aligned to the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) model, focusing on services that will have a positive impact on attendance, achievement, behavior.

Mission

The mission of the Berkeley County School District and Philip Simmons High School is to facilitate and support student-driven learning experiences by unleashing the power and potential of education. The Philip Simmons High School Counseling Department commits to the mission by working in collaboration with administration, teachers, parents, and the community to promote the academic, social-emotional, career development, and success of ALL students.

Annual Student Outcome Goals

1. 100% of graduating seniors will have a postsecondary plan upon graduation.

2. By May 2025, 36 students of the 45 students who were identified at the end of the 2023-2024 school year as at-risk students failing multiple classes, having chronic absences, and discipline issues will be passing 75 percent of their classes.
