Prior to coming to SFM, Ms. Phillips spent four years as an assistant principal at Goose Creek High, and says her familiarity with the students, families, and community will be an asset during her time as principal.

Ms. Chaneka Person

Assistant Principal

This is Ms. Person's 15th year in education. Prior to becoming an administrator, she spent 10 years at Stratford High School, serving in a number of roles which included: teacher, accountability and graduation specialist, student intervention specialist, and academy coach. Ms. Person's first position as an assistant principal was at Marrington Middle School of the Arts, where she spent two years before assisting Dr. Jim Spencer with the opening of Philip Simmons High School. This year will be Ms. Person's third year as an assistant principal at Sedgefield Middle.

steve childers

Mr. Steve Childers

Assistant Principal

This year is Mr. Childers' fourth year as an assistant principal at Sedgefield, and his 20th year in education. Prior to becoming an administrator, he spent 14 years teaching US History, Government and Economics at Hanahan High School.  While at Hanahan, Mr. Childers also coached boys and girls basketball, football, soccer and track.

He currently resides in Summerville with his wife Nikki, their three children, Karis (15), Kohen (12), Penny (1), and their two cats, Carl and Martha. As a proud graduate of Coastal Carolina University, Mr. Childers attends games as often as possible.  He is also a fan of the Carolina Panthers, Charlotte Hornets, and the Boston Red Sox.

Jamie Cook

Mrs. Jamie Fox

Assistant Principal

Jamie Fox is currently serving Sedgefield Middle School as an Assistant Principal. She is coming from the Charleston County School District after serving as the ML Instructional Coach for all secondary schools for the last three years.

She has taught Spanish to students in grades 6-8 in Brooklyn, NY, as well as served as the ESOL Department Chair at Stratford High School for seven years. She holds a bachelor's degree in Adolescent Education with concentrations in French and Spanish from the State University of New York at Fredonia. She also holds two master’s degrees in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from the State University of New York at Cortland and Secondary School Administration and Supervision from Charleston Southern University.
