Berkeley County School District (BCSD) will utilize the Teacher Workday/Inclement Weather Day on October 11 as a weather make-up, e-Learning Day for students, as designated in the BCSD Instructional Calendar. This adjustment is necessary due to the postponement of the first day of school from August 14 to August 15, following impacts of Tropical Storm Debby.
Per state regulations, school districts must make up the first three missed days of the academic year. The local school board has the authority to waive days 4-6, while days 7-9 can be submitted to the State Board of Education for consideration of a waiver. Any missed days beyond the ninth day must be addressed by the General Assembly.
Students will complete eLearning assignments from home via Schoology, SeeSaw, or other designated virtual learning platforms on October 11. Specific information about assignments will be provided by the student’s teacher and/or school. Teachers will share information regarding their office hours to support students completing eLearning assignments at home on October 11. More information here: eLearning Day FAQs.
Please prepare for your students to participate in eLearning on October 11, 2024. Teachers and support staff will report to campuses and offices according to their normal schedules.
