Timberland High’s JROTC Raider Team has won the State Title for the second year in a row.
Last year the team won state in the coed division. This year the boys’ team took the title after placing second last year.
Raider competitions typically have five events: a 5K Team Run; a logistics relay or obstacle Course; a Team Physical Fitness Challenge (TPFC); building, crossing and tearing down a one-rope bridge over a simulated river; and a truck pull. Schools compete against other schools regardless of their classification.
The team’s nine state champion team members were recognized with a ring ceremony during Berkeley County School District’s May 15 board meeting. The team was bestowed their rings by their leader, SFC Fritz D. Hodges.
