BCSD social worker Jasmin Cohen was surprised last week with the Cannon-Felder Award -- a recognition acknowledging the influence of social workers.
The award is meant to celebrate the work BCSD's social workers do that goes above and beyond expectations. The Office of Student and Family Support votes on who receives the award and the criteria for being recognized includes but is not limited to providing consistent services throughout the district, schools and team.
BCSD Director of Student and Family Support Elaine Swain describes Cohen as "inspiring."
"Jasmin is a servant leader and puts our students, families, schools and community needs first," Swain said. "She is resourceful and thinks out of the box. She's finding new ways to promote positive school communities."
The award is named in honor of longtime BCSD social workers Teresa Cannon and Eugenia Felder.
