At the most recent Berkeley County School District board meeting, Teacher Forum presented student scholarships to two recent BCSD graduates for the amount of $2,500 each. The funds for both scholarships were raised by Teacher Forum through t-shirt sales and a silent auction. One scholarship was awarded to a student who was supremely dedicated to CTE programs and the other was awarded to a student leader in the Teacher Cadets.
Applications including an essay and rubric were sent out to high school counselors, teacher cadet program sponsors and CTE teachers this spring. The Teacher Forum leadership team reviewed and discussed each completed application.
Cindy Perez Garcia from Stratford High won the 2023 Teacher Forum CTE Student Scholarship. Perez Garcia was heavily involved in SHS's Students in Action organization and completed multiple CTE courses - advertising, entrepreneurship, finance and marketing. She will be attending the University of South Carolina in the fall and majoring in business administration.
