At the most recent Berkeley County School District board meeting, Teacher Forum presented student scholarships to two recent BCSD graduates for the amount of $2,500 each. The funds for both scholarships were raised by Teacher Forum through t-shirt sales and a silent auction. One scholarship was awarded to a student who was supremely dedicated to CTE programs and the other was awarded to a student leader in the Teacher Cadets.
Applications including an essay and rubric were sent out to high school counselors, teacher cadet program sponsors and CTE teachers this spring. The Teacher Forum leadership team reviewed and discussed each completed application.
Representing Cane Bay High, Greta Oswald secured the 2023 Teacher Forum Teacher Cadet Student Scholarship. Oswald served as a Teacher Cadet at Cane Bay Elementary and as a team leader for her church's special needs ministry. In the fall, she plans to major in secondary education and is focused on teaching children with moderate to severe disabilities.
