Berkeley County School District would like to recognize the following five All-Star athletes for making the roster for the 2023 Touchstone Energy Bowl. The annual contest, formerly known as the North-South game, will be held Dec. 9 at Myrtle Beach High.

Congratulations to the following high school seniors:

William Coker – Cane Bay High

Position: DL

Coker is a three-year starter on Cane Bay’s varsity football team. He plays defensive tackle and defensive end. He is also the long snapper for punt and extra point/field goal. Coker is one of four senior captains this season and is a leader for the team’s defense. Coker is also one of Cane Bay’s top players on the school’s wrestling team.


Andrew Tumbleston – Cane Bay High

Position: OL

Tumbleston is a three-year starter on Cane Bay’s varsity football team.  He plays on the team’s offensive line and has played tackle, guard, and center for Cane Bay. Tumbleston is a leader on the team’s offense line and is one of its top performers. Tumbleston is also one of Cane Bay’s top players on the school’s wrestling team.


Jayden Middleton – Cross High

Position: DL

Middleton is the son of Sharper Middleton and Brandy Wright of Cross. Jayden has been a four-year starter for Cross. He has made All Region three years in a row. Coaches said Jayden's leadership skills are one of the best in the school’s football program. Head Football Coach Shaun Wright said Middleton represents Cross as a team captain every Friday. “We are extremely proud of his accomplishments and wish him well as he continues to excel on the football field and in the class room,” Wright said.


Sam Crocker – Philip Simmons High

Position: K

Crocker is a two-year member of Philip Simmons High’s football program. Crocker handles all punting, kickoff, and field goal duties for the Iron Horses. Head Football Coach Eric Bendig said Crocker proven to be one of the best kickers in the Lowcountry. “He has worked extremely hard in the offseason to put together an All Star Season and also set himself up to play in college at the next level,” Bendig said.


Landon Stradcutter – Stratford High

Position: OL

Stradcutter has been a three-year starter for the varsity football team. He is a two-player playing both offense and defense line for the Knights. Stradcutter is also an accomplished wrestler, finishing second in the state this past year. Head Football Coach Dennie McDaniel said Stradcutter is a school leader on the field, in the weight room and in the classroom. “He is very deserving of this honor, and we are proud of him,” McDaniel said. “We know he will represent Stratford High school and Berkeley County School District well.”
