The first line out of the first song students sang this morning pretty much says it all: "If you love your country, thank a Vet."
Philip Simmons Elementary held its annual Veterans Day program this morning as a way of thanking veteran family members of students and staff for their service. This morning's program started with a Veterans Day Breakfast in the cafeteria followed by a choral performance put on by the school's third-graders in the multipurpose room. Students were joined by visiting family members -- parents, grandparents and relatives -- who served in different branches of the military, all of which were recognized at the end of the program.
