Berkeley County School District’s teachers are always learning – even when the students are out of school.

Teachers, staff members and administrators spent Friday participating in a series of workshops and classroom sessions as part of an annual professional development event known as BCSD Conference Day; this year's theme was "Together We Thrive."

Sessions were led by fellow teachers, district officers and even special guests to provide teachers with tools and resources to better lead their classrooms and set their students up for success.

The sessions were spread across multiple schools in the district – most of them were held at Cane Bay High. Teachers and staff signed up for classes that ranged from how to get students excited about reading and writing, how to lead arts-infused lessons, how to incorporate mindfulness in the classroom, and more. Teachers could also enroll in courses covering safety, such as CPR training and Stop the Bleed training.
