Audrey Fry playing Mary Poppins

From Nov. 21-24, Berkeley Center for the Arts at Goose Creek High School will be performing its fall musical, “Mary Poppins.”

Performance dates are as follows:

  • Thursday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m.

  • Saturday, Nov. 23 at 7 p.m.

  • Sunday, Nov. 24 at 3 p.m.

To support this large cast of characters, GCH opened auditions to local middle schoolers and students from Cane Bay Middle, Marrington Middle School of the Arts and Westview Middle were selected for the show.

“Because the roles of Jane and Michael are aged 9 and 11, it seemed natural to work with our district middle schools to fill those roles,” Lauren Canfield, assistant principal at Goose Creek High, said. “After auditions, we decided to take on more students and create a middle school ensemble because there were so many talented students who came out!”

Prior to “Mary Poppins,” Goose Creek High has involved Berkeley County School District’s younger students in BCA’s productions of “Les Miserables” in 2019 and “The Wizard of Oz” in 2022.

“We love working with our younger district population,” Canfield said. “It is the ultimate enrichment opportunity for these talented students. We hope to continue this tradition of involving students from the lower grades in our productions every couple of years.”

Tickets are $10 for students and $15 for adults. Tickets are available online and at the door.
