CBH students with cobra statue

Berkeley County School District is proud to announce six Cane Bay High students have been selected to perform in the American Choral Directors Association National Honor Choirs. This is the most students Cane Bay High has ever had selected for the ACDA National Honor Choirs.

ACDA selects fifth through twelfth grade students to participate in one of its five national honor choirs. Each singer is scored on a rubric during a blind audition process, and each vocal part from every region is judged by the same person for consistent scoring. Over 5,000 singers auditioned for the ACDA National Honor Choirs this year and these six CBH students were among the 637 students selected for the 8-10 Treble Honor Choir and the 11-12 SATB Honor Choir.

"Many schools only get one or two singers into National ACDA," William Bennett, director of choirs at Cane Bay High, said. "This selection is a testament to the hard work that these students put in on a regular basis."

Congratulations to the following singers:

8-10 Treble Honor Choir

  • Arabella Hermann

  • Layla Marsh

  • Allie Purdy

11-12 SATB Honor Choir

  • Jacob Hurd

  • Max Nessel

  • Ryan Strunk

All six students will travel to Dallas, TX next year from March 19 - 22 to represent Cane Bay High, Berkeley County School District and South Carolina at the ACDA National Conference.
