Berkeley Middle College will celebrate 52 graduating seniors this Saturday.
The middle college concept is a national educational model that allows students to take dual credit classes on a college campus and earn both high school and college credit while completing their high school career.
These students enroll in college courses through Trident Technical College and, on average, graduate with 27 college credit hours by the time they receive their high school diplomas. By the end of their high school experience, these students are typically a year or more ahead of their peers academically.
This year, 10 Berkeley Middle College graduates earned enough college credit to graduate with a degree or certificate from Trident Technical College, and will be ending their high school career with an associate of arts degree (AA), an associate of science degree (AS) or a pre-nursing certificate (PNC) from TTC.
This year’s graduating class scored an estimated $2,471,250 in academic scholarships. There are four state Academic Honor recipients, plus seven Palmetto Fellows. There are also 20 students eligible for the Life Scholarship.
Saturday’s commencement exercises begin at 11 a.m. at Cane Bay High.
