School Improvement Council
Parents that participate on the School Improvement Council have an opportunity to meet with administration several times during the school year. Parents get to learn more about our school and school processes as well as have an opportunity to share their ideas and suggestions. Please consider joining us this year!
What do School Improvement Councils do?
School Improvement Councils (SIC) serve as advisory committees and include parents, teachers, business partners, and community members. Unlike PTAs, councils are mandated by law to exist in every public school in South Carolina. SICs play a key role in the education of our children, bringing together parents, educators, and community stakeholders to work collectively to improve our schools.
Key responsibilities of a SIC include working with the school to develop and implement a five-year school improvement plan, monitoring and evaluating success in reaching the plan's goals and objectives, and writing an annual report to parents about the progress of the plan. Council members are also encouraged to share suggestions and concerns as a way to help our school move toward continuous improvement.
