generic students in lunch room

This event calls for the help of some taste-testers – who better than BCSD students themselves?

The upcoming “Taste, Play, Connect” event is a day of family fun that doubles as a chance for students to help determine what food items should be served in the cafeteria.

This is the brainchild of BCSD’s Office of Child Nutrition Services as a way to shake things up on the food menus.

BCSD students who come out to Cane Bay High on Saturday, March 15 will get to participate in a free food tasting experience and cast their vote on which food menu items they liked the best and want to see featured in their school cafeterias. Samples are being provided by vendors such as Hershey’s Ice Cream, Tyson Foods, General Mills/Pillsbury, Butterball, Buena Vista, Dole and more. Vendors will show products that are currently offered on the menu in addition to new items.

Aside from the taste testing experience itself, students can look forward to bounce houses, a touch-a-truck experience, music and prize giveaways every hour. There will also be tables set up for families to engage with local organizations and get connected to community resources.

“Taste, Play, Connect” will be held at Cane Bay High from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The school is located at 1624 State Road in Summerville.
