A huge thank you to college sophomore and former DFE student, Preston Lee, on bassoon and college junior, Rachel Wyatt, on flute who came in to do a woodwind demonstration for some of our third grade students and some of our fifth grade students!!



Berkeley County School District will continue to serve meals to students this summer.
The 2023 Summer Breakfast and Lunch Program is available to all students and children in the Berkeley County community. The program is free to all children under the age of 18. Dates, times and site information can be found at www.bcsdschools.net/summermeals.


Students in Ms. Sullivan’s and Ms. Reed’s classes finished a unit on the novel “When Stars are Scattered.” This was a graphic novel memoir written by a man who spent the majority of his childhood in an African refugee camp. Today, Ms. Priscilla came to speak with the students about her personal experiences growing up in the African Country Ghana.

A huge thank you to Matt Smith, parent and member of St. James Wind Ensemble, for coming in last week to do a trumpet demonstration for some of our 3rd grade classes!!


On this final day of Teacher Appreciation Week we want to take one more opportunity to let you know how we feel!


REMINDER: May 30th is a half day for all students. It is also the final day of school for all students. May 31 is a teacher workday and the final day of the school year for teachers.

Mrs. Jacko and Mrs. Stament’s class learned how to make oven s’mores, wrote a how to story to tell how to do it and then put it into action to celebrate their finished writing! 🤤
