Brooke Melcher joined the Berkeley County School District as a teacher at Sangaree Intermediate in 2008. After devoting a decade of service in the classroom at Sangaree Intermediate and Hanahan Elementary, Melcher assumed responsibilities as the reading coach at Marrington Elementary. In 2019, Melcher was named the assistant principal at Marrington Elementary (MNE) and has worked with the MNE Pathfinders for the past four years.
"Mrs. Melcher's commitment to student support, academic excellence, and community collaboration is energizing," said BCSD Superintendent Dr. Anthony Dixon. "Her love for Hanahan is evident, and I am confident that she will strengthen the relationship between all Hanahan Schools, encourage and facilitate student growth, and share her homegrown love of HES with everyone she encounters."
When asked what makes Hanahan Elementary such a special school, Melcher said, "There is no other school as rooted in as much tradition and pride as Hanahan Elementary School. High academic expectations, talented teachers, dedicated staff, and outstanding community support are just a few reasons why HES is a great place to learn and work!"
Melcher added, "As a Hanahan native, I am beyond thrilled to return home to HES. I am excited to work with my team, students, and school community to ensure that each student who walks through the doors of HES receives an excellent education and leaves knowing that they are loved, supported, and will always have a home at HES. Once a Hawk, always a Hawk!"
Melcher received her M. Ed. in Elementary School Administration from The Citadel and her B.S. in Elementary Education from the College of Charleston.
