Howe Hall AIMS students perform Disney medley

This week, Howe Hall AIMS was named an Exemplary School by the Arts Schools Network. The  Arts Schools Network (ASN) is the largest professional membership organization of specialized arts schools in America. The Exemplary School recognition is a five-year designation and is awarded to HHA from 2023-2028.

According to a press release from ASN, schools are awarded the Exemplary Schools designation by following A Guide to Assessing Your Arts School and a strategic evaluation of the school's purpose, operations and educational programs.

"We offer guidance, inspiration, and incentives to arts school leaders who strive for excellence in their schools," Dr. R Scott Allen, managing director for ASN, said. "When they demonstrate outstanding efforts toward this goal, as they do by following A Guide to Assessing Your Arts School, we recognize and reward their achievements with this designation."

HHA offers a variety of fine arts classes for students to explore on a weekly basis, but the school's arts infused lessons, which are co-taught by general education and  fine arts teachers, sealed the deal with ASN. Through the merging of fine arts and South Carolina's academic standards, HHA captured the true essence of student success in arts education and rightly earned the Exemplary School designation.
