In anticipation of the upcoming Thanksgiving feast everyone is about to share with family and loved ones, Stephanie Bradley recently asked her first graders at J.K. Gourdin Elementary to share how they would go about preparing a turkey.

Bradley’s students seemed to very much agree that the absolute first thing one should do to a turkey is wash it. Then there is a good bit of poking, seasoning and massaging the bird – not necessarily in that order. Oven times may vary.

First, I will wash it. Next, I will massage it. Then, I will season it. Finally, I will put it in the oven.


Serenity Rembert

First, I will wash it. Second, I will massage it. Next, we cook. Then, I season and I pat it.


KaMya Houston

First, I will wash it. Next, I will poke it. Then, I cook the turkey.


Karter Gethers

First, I will wash it. Next, I cook it in the oven for 30 minutes. Finally, I will eat it.


Kaysha Gregg

First, wash it. Next, massage it. Then, season it. Finally, Gregg wrote she would add cornbread, put it in the oven for 30 minutes and then poke it and eat it.


Ervin Gadsden

First, wash it. Ervin wrote this is followed by a combination of massaging, poking and prodding the turkey. Next, season the cornbread. Then, put it in the oven for 50 minutes.


Layaura Dorsey

First, I will wash it. Next, I will season, massage and stuff the turkey. Then, I will cook the turkey for 75 minutes in the oven.

First, I will wash it. Next, we cook it. Then, massage it and stuff muffins in it. Finally, pat the turkey with butter.

First, I will season it. Then, I will massage it. Then, I will poke the turkey and then cook it.


Treyson Baker

First, I will wash it. Second, I will massage it. Then, I will cook it, and then poke it. Finally, I can eat.


Amari Gordon

First, I will wash it. Next, I will season it and turn the oven on. Finally, I will cook for 15 minutes.


Nevaeh Ellington-Smalls

First, season and massage it. Neveah would add cornbread. Next, wash it, stuff it and put it in the oven. Neveah wrote she would use grease, too. Third step is to eat.


Lucas Wilson

First, I will wash it. Then, I will season it and massage it and put in cornbread. Then, cook it in the oven for 100 minutes. Then, I will eat it.


Kailee Ragland

First, I will wash. Then, cook for 15 minutes. Next, season it and then massage it. Finally, pat cook and stuff it.

First, I will wash and then season. Next, I massage the turkey. Then, I cook it for 20 minutes.
