Our last Ninja, Ms. Outen, writes "When I arrive at Marrington in the mornings, Mr. Joey is usually the first person that exchanges greetings with me. He always takes the time out of his busy schedule to say good morning, how are you doing, and have a nice day. Mr. Joey really sets the tone for my day. He exhibit a strong work ethic, he is reliable, pays attention to detail and always ensures that our school is safe and clean. The Buy One Get One Scholastic Book Fair starts Thursday, April 24th at 7:30 am. The fair will be open Thursday and Friday (4/24 - 4/25) as well as the following week Monday through Friday (4/28 - 5/2). Regular hours are from 7:30-3:15; however, evening hours will be offered on Wednesday, April 30th and Thursday, May 1st from 5:00 pm -6:30 pm so families can shop before the school-wide musical. The fair will close at 1:15 on the final day. Students are welcome to shop before school, throughout the school day, and/or after school. Families may shop with students after school. Payment may be made in the form of cash, checks (made out to MNM), debit and credit cards, Apple Pay, and Scholastic eWallet. Spring has sprung! We hope all our students have a safe and fun spring break! Students will return to school April 21.

We're thrilled to celebrate the students and staffulty who rose to the challenge and completed March’s Beanstack “Read Across America” challenge by reading and logging at least 600 minutes! 🎉 All participants who met the goal earned a fun “I Love Reading” bracelet and a book-themed temporary tattoo as a reward for their dedication. Huge congratulations to all our prize winners — your love for reading truly shines! For the last reading challenge of the 24-25 school year, students and staffulty embarked on a reading adventure with our adorable bean-shaped mascot Benny during the month of April.

This week's Ninja Necklace recipient is Ms. LaVerne Outen, Our last Ninja, Mr. Reinheimer, writes "When I grow up… I want to be Ms.Outen. Ms. Outen is many things. She is an educator, world traveler, parent, grandparent, community leader, model citizen, and a friend. In addition to this, she is also one of the most positive people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Her positive attitude and sense of humor always makes our day a little better. Her passion for teaching and dedication to her students makes me want to be a better teacher. For these reasons and many more, I choose Ms. Outen to be this week’s ninja necklace recipient."

This week's Ninja Necklace recipient is Ms. Jenn Safford. Our last Ninja, Officer Foster, writes "Ms. Safford has been a pleasure to work with since my time here at MMSOA. She brings positive energy and an uplifting attitude on a daily basis. Ms. Safford treats each student with respect and dignity, which doesn't go unnoticed. Not only her current students, but former students speak very highly of her and give her the upmost praise in wishing they were still in her class. I want to thank Ms. Safford for the help she has been for me during my tenure. Congrats on being this week's Ninja!"

Every so often our admin team selects a staff member to be our Mighty Monarch. A Mighty Monarch is someone that leads by example and goes the extra mile for our students. Ms. Outen is being awarded the title of Mighty Monarch, due to her exceptional dedication and passion for education. She not only demonstrates outstanding teaching methods that engage students and foster a love for learning, but she also receives constructive feedback with professionalism, showcasing her commitment to growth. Open to new ideas, Ms. Outen collaborates effectively with her colleagues, proving to be a good teammate who uplifts those around her. Her humor and positive attitude create an enjoyable classroom atmosphere, while her strong classroom management skills ensure a focused and respectful learning environment. Through her tireless efforts and unwavering commitment, Ms. Outen truly embodies the spirit of a Mighty Monarch at MMSOA.

Our last Ninja, Ms. Clark, writes about Officer Foster, "He has come in and made a huge difference with the students, he is willing to help whenever and wherever. He can constantly be seen around the school making relationships with students and staff. He has been a great asset to our school!"

This past weekend, the very first Monarchy Jazz Band participated in SCBDA's Jazz Performance Assessment and earned a SUPERIOR rating! This is history in the making! This group is a cumulation of 7th graders and a few 8th graders who attended after school rehearsals to prepare three pieces to be played for judges. They received some great feedback, and we are so excited to see jazz at Marrington continue to grow! This is a massive accomplishment and we are so proud of the Monarchy Jazz Band!

Our last Ninja, Mrs. Seyfried, writes about Ms. Clark, "Ms. Kayla Clark, thank you for establishing such meaningful relationships with our students, which creates a fun and engaging learning environment that inspires those who are in your classes.
