Philip Simmons High’s girls cross country team accomplished a major achievement this school year when they won the state championship in November.
It was the team’s first-ever state championship in program history with a 42-52 victory over Waccamaw for the Class AAA title. It was also the first Iron Horse team, girls or boys, to win a state cross country title for the school.
To commemorate their achievements this school year, the following girls were awarded their championship rings on May 10 in the school auditorium. The teammates were joined by their head coach, Joshua Michael, and assistant coaches Emma Santor and Michelle Santor.
