At the Monday meeting of the Berkeley County Board of Education, Lynsey Phillips was officially named Principal of Sedgefield Middle. The vote was unanimous.
Phillips began serving as the interim principal at the school in the fall of the 2023-24 school year. Prior to her transfer to SFM she was a member of the administrative team at Goose Creek High, where she was named as an assistant principal in 2019.
"We are very pleased with the positive impact Ms. Phillips had at SFM this past school year, and look forward to what she will accomplish there in the future," said BCSD Deputy Superintendent Dr. Karen Whitley. "Her energy and focus on student success, teaching and learning is invaluable."
Phillips has spent her entire career with BCSD and has several notable accomplishments under her belt. She joined Cane Bay High in 2014 as a special education teacher and within four years was named the school’s Teacher of the Year. Her resume touts success with recruiting and retaining school employees; master schedule management; curriculum implementation and strategies to positively impact school climate.
“I am honored to continue to serve the Goose Creek community as the Principal of Sedgefield Middle School,” Phillips said. “This past school year, we made gains academically, and worked to strengthen our partnerships with the community. I am excited to continue our work and help our students see that their futures are full of endless possibilities.”
