At the end of the school year, the South Carolina Band Directors Association awards schools the Outstanding Performance Award for their band performances at SCBDA competitions and assessments. The Outstanding Performance Award is the highest possible award available to band programs in South Carolina.
Bands gain points toward the award by participating and scoring highly in the following SCBDA events:
Marching Band Championships (high schools only)
All-State and Region Band
Concert Performance Assessment
Solo and Ensemble Festival
Following this year's performance season, seven BCSD schools accumulated enough points to receive this coveted award:
Goose Creek High
Hanahan High
Hanahan Middle
Marrington Middle School of the Arts
Sangaree Middle
Stratford High
Westview Middle
Congratulations to all!
