Brion Packett is returning to Berkeley County School District as the Interim Principal at Stratford High School, transitioning from his current role as Principal of RISE Academy in Dorchester District 2. Mr. Packett and the administrative team will welcome teachers and students back to school in August.
Packett joined Berkeley County School District as a social studies teacher at Stratford High School in 2007. After devoting eight years of service in the classroom, Packett went on to serve Stratford High as the Academy Coach and Graduation Specialist. In December of 2016, Packett was selected as the first assistant principal and athletic director at Philip Simmons High School, where he had the unique opportunity to work alongside design and construction teams to develop, implement and lead the athletic program and to grow a new school community. From 2019 to 2023, Packett served Dorchester District 2 as an assistant principal at Fort Dorchester High and Summerville High. In July 2023, Packett was named Principal of RISE Academy, an alternative education program in Dorchester District 2.
"I know first hand the passion and sheer will that drives Mr. Packett in his tireless pursuit of student success and growth," said BCSD Superintendent Dr. Anthony Dixon. "Throughout his career, he has proven that he is student centered, and I have no doubt he will match the Knights’ energy and momentum, and provide stable and consistent leadership during this time of transition. I am excited to welcome him back home to BCSD and back home to Stratford High.”
When asked about receiving this opportunity to return to Stratford High School, Packett said, "I am honored and excited to have the opportunity to serve as Stratford High School’s interim principal for the upcoming school year. My teaching career began at Stratford, fresh out of The Citadel, and the ten years I spent as a Stratford Knight were formative and unforgettable. As a Jostens Renaissance educator, I have been able to establish and enhance Renaissance programs across the Lowcountry so I am excited to rejoin my Renaissance family at SHS.”
Packett added that, “Leaving this incredible community was one of the toughest decisions of my career, but it allowed me to gain a wealth of diverse experiences. I've had the chance to learn and grow in various roles so I am thrilled to bring these experiences back to Stratford High School, the place that gave me my first opportunity. Once a Knight, always a Knight!
Packett received his M. Ed. in Educational Administration and Supervision from Charleston Southern University, Master of Sports Science from US Sports Academy, and his B.S. in Social Studies Education from The Citadel.
