Berkeley County School District is pleased to announce that Brion Packett will continue to lead Stratford High as the school’s fulltime principal. Board members unanimously approved the appointment during Monday night’s board meeting, with Packett’s contract taking effect on Dec. 3.

Packett has served as the interim principal at the school since July, but he is no stranger to Stratford High; he joined BCSD as a social studies teacher at the school in 2007.

After serving eight years as a teacher, Packett went on to serve Stratford High as the Academy Coach and Graduation Specialist.

In December of 2016, Packett was selected as the first assistant principal and athletic director at Philip Simmons High, helping to develop and subsequently lead the athletic program and grow the new school community.

Prior to his return to the district this year, Packett was making moves in Dorchester District 2, serving as an assistant principal from 2019 to 2023 at Fort Dorchester High and Summerville High. In July 2023, he was named Principal of RISE Academy, an alternative education program in Dorchester District 2.

Packett said he has enjoyed his return to Stratford High this year.

“I think it’s a dream come true because I’m going back home, and it’s been almost 20 years in the making where I started my career, and I’m just happy to serve the community where it all started for me,” he said. “It’s been a great school year; students and staff are responding to the positive changes we’re making. We have strong foundation of excellence at Stratford and we’re just building upon that legacy of academic excellence.”

Packett was joined at Monday night’s board meeting by his family and administrative teammates from Stratford.
