Life can take you a lot of different places, but you should never forget where you came from. This morning many of our soon-to-be graduates walked the halls of their former elementary schools for the last time.

The 2024 Commencement Ceremony for Berkeley Middle College will be streamed live at 7 p.m. To view, visit https://www.bcsdschools.net/live.

As a way of continuing to promote child nutrition and adding to the many celebrations capping the end of the school year, Berkeley County School District’s Office of Child Nutrition Services will launch a special giveaway next week (May 20–24) that will offer some big prizes.
Elementary, middle and high school students eating lunch and/or breakfast next week will be entered into a drawing for prizes that include, but are not limited to:
*iPads
*Wireless earbuds/headphones
*Underwater cameras
*Projectors
*Action cameras
*Bluetooth speakers
Students will receive one entry into the drawing for each meal they eat. Winners will be drawn at random, and those who eat multiple meals will obviously have an increased chance of winning.

A little bit of rain certainly did not dampen the festivities this morning as Stratford High students and staff ventured outside to cheer on the boys soccer team as they boarded the bus to leave for the state championship! The bus left in style with vehicles from Goose Creek's police department and the fire department providing an escort off the campus.
Stratford High Knights will face off against the Fort Mill Yellow Jackets at 3 p.m. at Memorial Stadium in Columbia. The team is led by Coach Jessie Stament.

At this week's board meeting, Daniel Island School, Timberland High and Goose Creek High were recognized for their state title wins and North/South selections. Congratulations again to the following students and programs:
Daniel Island School - Cate Angle
Timberland High - JROTC Raider team and state champion wrestler Alex Rush
Goose Creek High - North/South selections Aiyanna Moss, Shane Potts and Preston Rhodes and state champion wrestlers Montero Royal and Uriah Peters-Gutierrez

Our school nurses rock! To celebrate #NationalNursesWeek, BCSD Nursing Services delivered gifts to our school nurses for always providing great care to our students. Keep up the great work, ladies! #makingapositivedifference #nationalschoolnurseday

Our students put on a stellar performance at the Charleston Battery's May the 4th game! Philip Simmons High's choir brought down the house with the national anthem and Hanahan High's JROTC presented the colors.

A health emergency can happen anywhere, even in a school. Our school nurses do an incredible job ensuring our students remain happy and healthy throughout the school year. #NationalNursesWeek

Our teachers make a positive difference in our students' lives everyday! During #TeacherAppreciationWeek, thank a teacher for the outstanding work they do to help students reach their full potential.

BCSD has some determined young readers! Congratulations to the Iron Horses for being named an i-Ready Super School after putting in the work to have the highest percentage of passed i-Ready reading lessons out of all the elementary schools in the district this past month.

There were a few misty eyes at Westview Middle yesterday as we watched 31 students accept their Turnaround Achievement Award in front of their families and school administrators. This program is a long-standing tradition that recognizes our students who have tackled hardships and obstacles, but went above and beyond to better themselves for the sake of their academics.

Today, roughly 700 BCSD elementary students spent the morning exploring the natural world at NatureScope in Santee Canal Park. Put on by Kids Who Care, a local non-profit focused on environmental science education, the winners of the non-profit's environmental science project competition were also announced at the event. Congratulations to Moncks Corner Elementary on taking home the top prize for the second year in a row! #makingapositivedifference

REMINDER: New student registration for the 2024-2025 school year is now open! Visit https://www.bcsdschools.net/registration to start the online registration process.

Spring has sprung! BCSD Spring Break runs April 1-5. All students return to school on April 8.

Students are raking in the prizes from National School Breakfast Week. Congratulations to all our grand prize winners!

Congratulations to Project SEARCH on being recognized as the 2023 Volunteer of the Year by the Salvation Army at last night's Berkeley County Council meeting. The class was unanimously selected by the Salvation Army because of students’ passion and humility in tackling tasks, and staying committed to doing anything needed to help the organization finish projects. #makingapositivedifference
