Today Hanahan High School had to say good bye to 3 of the best to have ever walked the halls. We wish the best of luck to our 3 retirees that have given so much to our students and community. Congratulating to our Choir on their success at the "Music in the Parks" festival held this past Saturday at Carowinds. We scored a 94/100 and earned a Superior rating, placing 2nd place overall, and received the Esprit De Corps award, which is the overall outstanding group award for performance, presentation, and professionalism. #itsagreatdaytobeahawk

As a way of continuing to promote child nutrition and adding to the many celebrations capping the end of the school year, Berkeley County School District’s Office of Child Nutrition Services will launch a special giveaway next week (May 20–24) that will offer some big prizes. Elementary, middle and high school students eating lunch and/or breakfast next week will be entered into a drawing for prizes that include, but are not limited to: *iPads *Wireless earbuds/headphones *Underwater cameras *Projectors *Action cameras *Bluetooth speakers Students will receive one entry into the drawing for each meal they eat. Winners will be drawn at random, and those who eat multiple meals will obviously have an increased chance of winning.

We are proud to announce that the Hanahan HS Band has been awarded the Outstanding Performance Award for the third year in a row! The South Carolina Band Directors Association presents it to Band programs across the state that excel in all performance areas including Marching Band, Region Band, Concert Performance Assessment, and Solo and Ensemble. This weekend the crew of USCGC STRATTON WMSL 752 and a few lucky friends and family members including Junior, Luke Woodall, pulled into home port at Base Alameda. HHS Class of 2022 Alumni, and brother to Luke, Hank Woodall, has been gone since right after the first of the year on an Alaskan patrol. Luke flew into San Diego Friday morning and hopped on board for the last leg of Stratton’s journey home in what’s called a Tiger Cruise. Luke got to spend the weekend on board and learn about the Coast Guard and the Stratton’s mission. #itsagreatdaytobeahawk Please reach out to HHS to submit information for us to share the amazing accomplishments of our students and alumni. Last Friday, our Renaissance Club sponsored a Faculty/Student basketball game for the student body. Everyone had a great time and it was a good game, but the faculty ultimately triumphed with a final score of 51 to 31! Big thanks to everyone who came out to watch the game and everyone who helped make this a success. Hanahan High School is proud to announce that Ashlyn Mouzon participated in the 2024 Carolina Band Spring Experience at the Garnet and Black Spring Football game. High School students who registered to join the Carolina Band on Saturday, April 20 were given the opportunity to perform with the Carolina band. Students participated in a music rehearsal and performed several pep tunes during the game. Way to go Ashlyn! #itsagreatdaytobeahawk

Last week Thursday, April 18 the Berkeley County School District celebrated the Turnaround Student of the Year as nominated by their school. BCSD’s annual Turnaround Achievement Award program is a long-standing tradition that recognizes students who have tackled hardships and obstacles, both at school and at home, but went above and beyond to better themselves for the sake of their academics. Hanahan High School was proud to recognize current 11th grader Samantha Wanner as their recipient. Great job Samantha and keep up the great work! #itsagreatdaytobeahawk
