win

With the region championship still up for grabs the Varsity baseball team did their job to stay in the conversation. The Knights traveled to Wando Friday night and came away with an 11-2 win over the Warriors. With the win the Knights are now tied atop the Region 6-AAAAA standings with Berkeley. Both teams have a 4-2 region record with two series remaining. The Knights finish with Goose Creek while the Stags wrap up the region slate with Cane Bay.

Friday night, Stratford jumped out to an early lead scoring three runs in the first inning and they never looked back keeping the pressure on the Warriors. Jacob Deacon got the start on the mound for the Knights and the junior righty returned to early season form. He went 5 1/3 innings while surrendering two runs (0ER). He gave up five hits while striking out four. Junior Tripp Smith would come on in relief and toss the final inning and two thirds without allowing a hit and striking out two.

At the plate the Knights got contributions from several players. Sophomore Jachin Davis paced the Knights from the lead off spot going 2-4 with 2 doubles and 4 runs scored. Also collecting hits for the Knights were Smith, JQ Crosby, Bryce Herpolsheimer, Brayden Burnett, Jayden Dorsett, and Reece Scarbrough. Every Knight starter reached base in the game. The Knights got RBI from: Davis (2), Smith (1), Crosby (1), Herpolsheimer (1), and Burnett (2)
