The Varsity football team picked up a 30-28 region win over Wando last Friday night to move to 2-2 in the region. The Knights rushing attack was potent and special teams forced a turnover, and the defense picked up a score in a game that saw swings of momentum both ways. Stratford outgained Wando 415-294 while also edging Wando in the turnover margin. The Knights had a fumble while the Warriors fumbled and threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown. On defense the Knights were led by some hard hits by Senior Javien Salters. He also recovered a fumble on a kick off. Senior Darrell Holmes returned a Wando interception for a touchdown to help the Knights pick up the win. The Stratford offense dominated the time of possession. The unit began the game with five minute drive and iced it with another five minute drive to preserve the victory. Jachin Davis threw for 127 yards and two touchdowns. Jacob Deacon and Freddie Alston were on the receiving end of the throws while JQ Crosby added a 61 yard touchdown run. Tyler Stament was perfect on extra points. Stratford averaged over six yards per carry with five different players carrying the ball.
The Knights are off this week before returning home next week, November 8th, for the regular season finale against crosstown rival Goose Creek. The playoffs begin the following week.
