So proud of our students for meeting their School Level "Wildly Important Goals" for the month of September. They grew in Multiplication Fluency from 41-55%. They also grew in Reading Comprehension from 41-51%. We had our surprise celebrations today with each grade level. We dressed up as animals this year and had an Obstacle Course, Student vs. Admin. Dodgeball Game and Teacher Dance Competition. This principal is tired!! What a wonderful day! If they meet their school wide goal in October we will have an in-school glow DANCE!! Keep working hard students and reach those Reading and Math Goals. We believe in you.

Leader of the Week… Rebecca Cooley Ms. Cooley has been chosen for Leader of the week because of the passion she shows for her students. As a first year teacher she has had to learn so much about the role of a special education teacher, her students, new curriculum, etc. She is so positive and always has a smile on her face no matter what is on her plate. She always welcomes new students into her classroom with an open heart. She collaborates well with her team and other classroom teachers. Congratulations Ms. Cooley!

Congratulations!
Ms. Marino and Mrs. Frazier's Classes had a great time participating in STEAM activities during their library time today. The students were given limited supplies and had to brainstorm strategies to make the longest chains. The students were very creative and very challenged. Hats off to Media Specialist Mrs. Keller!

Our first Habit Homework Yellow paper was sent home Wednesday to all families. This is a quick family homework sheet based on Habit 1: Being Proactive. This is to be completed by the child and a parent TOGETHER. It will take less than 10 minutes but will be a meaningful discussion. All students are to complete the paper, get the signatures and return it to their teacher. This is a competition between our classes and grade levels. Thank you for participating each month and bringing the habits into your home. The last day to return the yellow sheet is FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 29.

We love our SRI families! Set a few moments aside this week to sit together. Allow your student time to explain the habit of the month, be proactive. We want your student to be able to share with you what is happening at school as we grow our leadership. Discussion Topic for the week- The 8 Habits help us throughout our day. Think and discuss this question with your family! How were you proactive today in class?

Just a reminder that school will dismiss at 10:50 a.m. today. Please pick up your child on time so that all faculty and staff can be sent home, as well. We have staff that live in Mt. Pleasant, James Island, Macedonia, etc. All homeroom teachers will push out assignments tomorrow using Schoology. Each student has had the opportunity to log in and knows how to access assignments. Our teachers will be available during work hours to answer any questions you may have via email. If you lose power and your child cannot complete their assignments do not worry. They will have three days to complete them when they return. If they are not completed by the third day then they will be counted absent for the e-Learning Day. Stay safe and dry and we will see everyone on Friday! It will be our first W.I.G Day! We are all excited about this!

Due to the potential for severe weather resulting from Hurricane Idalia, Berkeley County School District (BCSD) schools will follow the half-day dismissal bell schedule (https://www.bcsdschools.net/o/bcsd/page/school-bell-schedules) on Wednesday, August 30. Thursday, August 31, students will learn from home and complete eLearning Day assignments. All schools and offices will be closed Thursday. BCSD will resume normal operations Friday, September 1. Before and after-school care programs, activities, and athletics, to include practices and games, are canceled for Wednesday, August 30, and Thursday, August 31. Normal activities and operations will resume on Friday, September 1. On Thursday, August 31, students will complete eLearning assignments from home via Schoology, Google Classroom, SeeSaw, or other designated virtual learning platforms. Specific information about assignments will be provided by the student’s teacher and/or school. Teachers will share information regarding their office hours to support students completing eLearning assignments at home. More information here: https://www.bcsdschools.net/o/bcsd/page/elearning-day-faqs Due to the potential for severe weather, and out of an abundance of caution for the safety of students, staff, and families, the district will not operate virtual feeding sites on Wednesday or Thursday. BCSD officials work in partnership with Berkeley County Emergency Management and receive regular updates regarding the weather from the National Weather Service. As safety and security is our number one priority, officials will continue to monitor the weather and assess any resulting damage. Schools and offices will reopen and resume normal operations on Friday, September 1.
