SRI is proud to announce this year's Teacher of the Year as Mrs. Saskia Keller! She has been teaching for over 18 years and has been our librarian here at SRI for the last two and a half years. She works to build a community of learners by working with both students and teachers. Her love for reading and books is almost as incredible as her passion for instruction. Congratulations Mrs. Keller! We are so excited for you.

We will not have class picture day tomorrow. It will be rescheduled and we will notify everyone of the new date. Everyone needs to dress very warm this week. All students were given hats and gloves from Tall Pines Church at Chrstmas. This is a very good time to pull those out. See you all tomorrow for the 1/2 day.

Congratulations to Media Specialist, Saskia Keller for being our Leader of the Week! Mrs. Keller has done an exceptional job making the library a warm and inviting place for students. Just recently Mrs. Keller had her Donor’s Choose Project featured on Live 5 News. Mrs. Keller is always looking for innovative ways to engage students in the Media Center. She actively fosters the love of reading within the school. She has also been a wonderful mentor to Ms. Beane helping her plan her Maker Space Lessons for this Semester. Thank you Mrs. Keller for all that you do. You are a true leader!

We need your help. Our new guidance counselor, Ms. Hankes, is trying to organize a "Career Day" for our students. However, we have only had 5 parents volunteer to share their careers. Please look at the flier and notify Ms. Hankes if you would be willing to share. We need ALL career areas. It can be you, a neighbor, family friend, etc. We will see how many responses we get in the next 2 weeks to make a decision on holding the event. Thank you.

Our entire school was blessed by Tall Pines Baptist Church yesterday! The church hand delivered a present to all 522 students and every staff member. After the chorus performance the classes made their way through the lobby to be presented with their gifts. Everything from hats, gloves, blankets, board games, purses, Nerf toys and so much more. Thank you Tall Pines Church for thinking of our students and staff this holiday season. Your kindness always shines through!

Congratulations to Resource Teacher, Sheena Olsen who has been selected as SRI Leader of the Month. Mrs. Olsen has been a great Team Leader! She has shown up and given herself 100% to her students as well as other teachers who need her help and guidance. Despite having her own extensive list of responsibilities, she always makes herself available to others and even reaches out to check-in, offer to take something off your plate, and/or drop off a sweet treat 🙂  I appreciate her consistently positive attitude and daily encouragement! (even when it's 6:30 am, she is always smiling...). Thank you Sheena Olsen for all of your help so far this year! We appreciate you!
