Ms. Marino's Class had a Thanksgiving Day Parade today complete with floats pulled by robots! The students did a fantastic job "coding" their floats!
We showed our teachers and staff how thankful we are for them yesterday by having an Apple Nacho Bar! I think they enjoyed it!! We hope everyone has a restful and safe Thanksgiving Break. We have so much to be thankful for!
Title 1 Facilitator, Jennifer Bowen was teaching her Science Class all about thermal energy by making smores with their Solar Boxes this week. The students enjoyed the activity and the delicious outcome!
Human Ice Cream Sundae Pictures...The students were very kind to us!
Thank you for your donations to our Booster fundraiser! We surpassed our goal of $5,000 and students participated in the Fun Run on Friday afternoon. Parents and teachers enjoyed sprinkling the students with color. The students had a blast! The school enjoyed seeing Mrs. Bauer and I turned into Human Ice Cream Sundaes for meeting the school goal! It was quite an experience!
We have had some Watchdogs (Dads of Great Students) in the house the last few weeks! So glad to have these dads volunteering a day of their time to support our school. If you are interested just call Corporal Key at 843-820-3850. You get a free lunch and unlimited recess time too!
Leader of the Week… Olivia Olson
Mrs. Olson has been recognized as Leader of the Week because of her perseverance. She continues to work on a plethera of different strategies within her classroom to have things run even better than the week before. She not only takes feedback and suggestions but she asks for them and puts them into action. She is a role model for others by how she forms relationships with all students. We appreciate her spirit and positive personality in good times and times of stress. We appreciate her and are blessed to have Olivia at SRI.
It has been a great week with the Booster Team raising money for our SRI Students!! Tomorrow is the Color Run. Please be aware that your child needs to wear clothes that can get colored starch on them as they run. It does come out in the wash. They will come home with color on their clothes and possibly hair even though they go through a "blow color off" area at the end of their laps. Parents are welcome to bring a chair and watch as long as they sign in at the office and stay in the designated watch zone. A physical identification must be presented to Cindy at the front counter. If you sign your child out after the run you also have to do that at the front counter with Mrs. Cindy. The 3rd and 4th grade Run is from 11-11:45 a.m. and the 5th grade Color Run is from 12-12:45 p.m. See you tomorrow and have a Great Night. It is not to late to donate at mybooster.com.
Mrs. Bell's Class had the highest number of pledges overnight ! They had a blast getting to silly string Jammin' Jamie today as part of our Boosterthon! Remember it is not to late to donate.
Boosterthon is going GREAT! Please keep donating so we can reach our goal. We are almost 1/2 way there! We are raising money for the Library Book Vending Machine and new playground equipment. We have had a little over $5,000 donated from 78/550 parents. Jammin' Jamie has been all over school today!
During the Boosterthon World Changers Morning Meeting today students learned about "Making a Plan"... This goes right along with Habit 1 and 2 in Leader in Me! Being Proactive and Beginning with the end in Mind!! Please consider a donation to SRI and have a great night.
Yesterday, Katherine Clarkson, a music teacher at Sangaree Intermediate, accepted the Berkeley County Sheriff Office's Citizen Service Award. Mrs. Clarkson was nominated for this award by the school's SRO after she saved the life of a student who was choking in the cafeteria by performing the Heimlich maneuver. Way to keep a sharp eye, Mrs. Clarkson!

Our first Watchdogs (Dads of Great Students) Meeting was a great success. Corporal Key had lots of great prizes too! The Watchdogs program promotes male role models in schools across the United States. We are just asking for each dad, grandad, uncle or brother to donate a minimum of 1 day of their time to volunteer at SRI this school year. Pick up a flyer at the front desk or call Corporal Key at the school for more details.
