Parent Engagement Plan

The list below shows examples of ways Cross Elementary will promote partnerships with families to assist in promoting student achievement.  

•    Train teachers to work with parents (example: Working with Parents Training)
•    Address language barriers (ex. Reaching families whose first language is not English by translating materials into their first language with the assistance of our school’s ESL teacher)
•    Evaluate parents’ needs and give parents a voice in school decisions (ex. parent surveys, Title I Meetings)
•    Accommodate families’ work schedule (ex. hold meetings during at varying times)
•    Establish a home-school coordinator (ex.  Title I Facilitator coordinates and plans family & community engagement activities, provide multiple strategies for parent-school communication, develop a resources center (ex. Family Resource Room in Room 9)
•    Use technology to link parents to the classroom (ex. Rooms, Schoology, etc.)
•    Encourage family learning (ex. Annual Title I Meeting, Curriculum Night, ELA Night, Parent Workshops, etc.)
