BCSD transitions to virtual operations today, August 9
Due to unexpected flash flooding resulting in numerous road closures and impassable road conditions, Berkeley County School District (BCSD) schools and offices will transition to virtual operations Friday, August 9.
All extracurricular activities, athletics, and school programs are currently suspended Friday, August 9. BCSD leaders urge staff to stay off of the roads.
In collaboration with county and municipal leaders, BCSD will reassess conditions Friday and throughout the weekend and provide updates, as appropriate, concerning potential access to schools and offices.
BCSD leaders are working closely with Berkeley County Emergency Management and are receiving regular updates about the weather from the National Weather Service. As safety and security is our
Hanahan Families - You asked, and we listened! We know everyone is excited to see our new campus, and we are offering a short opportunity on Tuesday, August 13. Please understand that we have had many challenges, and our first priority is to make sure we are ready for students on the first day. This opportunity on Tuesday will not be a "Meet the Teacher" event, but it will give you the chance to walk around the campus and find your child's classrooms. We are also offering three sessions (one virtual and two in-person) to share information about Hanahan Middle School. The virtual session is tomorrow, Friday August 9 at 11:00 a.m. Please refer to the flyers below for more information.
We are excited to welcome our students for the 24-25 school year. Due to concerns about parking and traffic, we have made an adjustment to one of our assemblies scheduled for Monday, August 12. We will begin at 4:30 pm instead of 5:00 pm. See the attachment for more information.
