Students in Mrs. Levesque's class worked together, using a rubber band with strings attached, to stack cups for an extra challenge.

We marked the end of a fantastic first week at WVE with team-building activities, "High Five Friday," and a special Woot Woot cart for our staff!

The South Carolina Department of Education purchased and provided Berkeley County School District and other school districts in our state with My Ride K-12 for communication of bus routes and delays. The app has been unable to provide parents with consistent delay information. BCSD is now tracking bus delays for parents using Google documents.

We were excited to bring some joy to our wonderful staff at Westview Elementary with a fantastic makeover for our workroom. Knowing the dedication of our teachers, our aim was to brighten their days a bit with this cozy space!

Students learned that our words are just like toothpaste: easy to get out but impossible to get back in!

At Shake and Shine, Ms. Blatchford's class practiced handshaking and got to know each other better! Wondering what makes a great handshake?
* Firm grip
* Maintaining eye contact
* Wearing a friendly smile
These are must-haves for creating excellent first impressions!

Today marks the beginning of our collaboration with the Collective Leadership Institute (CLI) as we dive into the design phase. We are enthusiastic about gaining valuable insights into implementing the SC Collective Leadership Framework. It is an honor for WVE to be among the 12 schools invited by the SC Department of Education for this unique opportunity.

Feeling truly blessed to have had Mr. Willis Sanders pay us a visit and generously present our instructional coach, Chesney Thomas, with a beautiful piece of artwork!

Let’s give a huge Whale Welcome to Officer Baldwin, our new SRO. We are excited to have her on the Boulevard.

Our Collective Leadership Team came together to put the finishing touches on our back-to-school preparations. As a team, we're designing a plan that prioritizes students and families, ensuring the upcoming school year will be filled with joy! A big shout-out to Sweet Frog for their support and hospitality.

Beginning Monday, Berkeley County School District parents and guardians will begin to receive invites for Rooms.
Rooms is a platform that lives within the new BCSD mobile app. It supplements school and district news and information by providing direct communication tools for parents, teachers, athletic coaches, club advisors, etc.
Our goal is to streamline communication and minimize the number of apps parents and guardians need for communication.

Please note that not all teachers and schools are utilizing Rooms at this time, but there is a plan to launch all schools on the platform in the future.
**Additional notes**
Parents will still need to use the PowerSchool Parent portal for academic information.
Rooms will not replace student learning management systems (Schoology).

We are so excited to welcome everyone back to school for the 23-24 school year! The halls were buzzing with excitement as students and teachers reunited after the summer break. There were smiles everywhere as students walked into their new classrooms. It was great to have the school full again, full of life!
We can’t wait to see all of you on Monday.
