HAPPY HALLOWEEN to you all!

Charleston Southern University football players visited our school to read with our students, making it a special and memorable day for everyone!

🎉 Congratulations to our amazing WVE students and staffulty! 🎉
We are excited to announce that Westview Elementary has received the Jostens Renaissance School Culture Builder Award!
This award recognizes the hard work of our team in creating a school where students love to learn and staffulty love working. It’s our first year with the Jostens Renaissance framework, and we couldn’t be prouder!
Let’s keep making waves together, Whales! 🐋

The coffee was flowing this morning for National Coffee with a Cop Day! Goose Creek Police Department, Superintendent Dixon and our Security and Emergency Management team were at our Westview campuses today to address school safety concerns and grab a cup of coffee with WVP, WVE and WVM parents.

Berkeley County School District will utilize the Teacher Workday/Inclement Weather Day on October 11 as a weather make-up, e-Learning Day for students, as designated in the BCSD Instructional Calendar. This adjustment is necessary due to the postponement of the first day of school from August 14 to August 15, following impacts of Tropical Storm Debby.

Due to forecasted impacts of Hurricane Helene, Berkeley County School District (BCSD) students will learn from home and complete eLearning Day assignments on Friday, September 27. All after-school activities and after-school care programs will close at 6 p.m. this evening.
All schools and offices will be closed Friday, and before and after-school care programs are canceled. As the storm system is projected to move out of the area that afternoon, after school activities may resume after 4 p.m. on Friday.

Today WVE celebrated International Dot Day, which encourages creativity and shows how one small dot can have a big impact on the world around us. Thank you, Ms. Bowers, for inspiring creativity in our students!

Motivational Monday! The rain didn't dampen the spirits of WVE students! Our student leaders brightened the morning by displaying posters with inspirational messages and handing out affirmation cards as students entered the building. A special thank you to Ms. Nettles for working with our student leaders to make this happen!

In Miss Chappell and Miss Toscano’s class, students have been learning about figurative language. To end the week, students came to school dressed as their favorite idiom. While figurative language isn’t literal their students did a GREAT job LITERALLY representing these fun expressions we hear every day. See if you can guess what idiom these students are dressed as!

Our students and staffulty are having a blast with our 50s theme this year! Their enthusiasm and creativity make this celebration truly special. Check out Sofia’s fantastic work coordinating her outfit with the theme. If you have photos from last week's Fabulous 50s Friday, please email them to Principal Wyatt at wyatte@bcsdschools.net.

Students in Mrs. Turner’s Math Classes became ice-cream connoisseurs. They solved ten ice-cream themed challenges where they had to solve and fix incorrect ice cream orders, figure out order totals, and divide ice-cream treats to serve a given amount of people. What a fun way to practice multiplication and division strategies!

Today Ms. Montana's third graders explored the connection between speed, height, and distance! As part of their force and motion unit, they tested how gravity affects speed and distance. Their hypothesis was: "If we change the drop height of the Hot Wheel, the car will go faster and farther." After reviewing their data, they confirmed their hypothesis! The force of gravity (height) directly impacted the car's speed and distance.

We are excited to share that Dr. Eddings, Mrs. Ducker, Mr. Gallus, Mrs. Groves, Mr. Huff, and Mrs. Wyatt have successfully completed the South Carolina School Leadership Executive Institute (SLEI). This transformative 7-month journey with 22 leaders from across the state was an exceptional experience and one of the best professional development programs they’ve ever participated in, thanks to the outstanding Truist Leadership Institute. We’re eager to see the positive impact their new skills and insights will have on our entire school community. Congratulations to our outstanding team of leaders!

Ms. Blumer's class kicked off their first science experiment! The students had a blast making both quantitative and qualitative observations—with Skittles! It's amazing to see our young scientists in action, exploring the world around them one colorful experiment at a time.

🌟 Exciting News! 🌟
We are thrilled to announce that Westview Elementary is entering Year 2 of the South Carolina Department of Education’s Collective Leadership Initiative!
As we dive into the implementing phase, we're committed to making our school the best it can be by fostering collaboration, embracing feedback, and continuing to grow together.
It is an honor to be among the amazing schools in South Carolina working towards excellence. Together, we are making a positive difference for our students, staff, and community!
